Environment
Both in and beyond our resorts, Marriott Vacations Worldwide seeks to take responsibility for the environmental impact of business operations. The company's commitment to the environment dates back to its inception in 1984 with the first Marriott Vacation Club® resort on Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Today, as an industry leader recognized worldwide for its standard of quality, Marriott Vacations Worldwide is more focused than ever on demonstrating how responsible development and resort management—together with Associate involvement—can be a positive force for the environment.
The company's four key elements of environmental responsibility include:
- Water, waste and energy
- Supply chain
- Green resorts
- Engaging Owners, Members, guests and Associates
Beginning in 2008, Marriott Vacations Worldwide launched a green initiative at its corporate headquarters; a rollout to its corporate offices and resorts worldwide followed. The company continues to actively seek out and evaluate ways to implement additional green products and programs into its corporate environment as well as at its resorts.
